This Thursday, the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO will be hosting a labor protest in Dupont Circle at 4PM.
According to the DC Labor website, the protest’s main messages are that:
- Workers make DC run
- We support federal workers
- Union busting is disgusting
- Workers over billionaires
- #FreeDC
In a time where the rights and freedoms of DC citizens are under attack due to the Trump administration’s militarization of the district, it is imperative that labor will continue to organize and push back. I especially like how this protest has a wide variety of cosponsoring organizations, including many labor orgs, Free DC, Jewish Voice for Peace, the Democratic Socialists of America National Labor Commission, and many more. Workers rights, immigrants rights, and rights of DC citizens are all connected and should be defended no matter what.
