EMERGENCY The Global Sumud Flotilla Attacked by Israel

We Must Respond Now

On the night of September 23rd, The Global Sumud Flotilla was attacked by Israel. 12 Israeli drones bombed and jammed 11 civilian ships in international waters carrying humanitarian aid for Gaza.

Once again, the Israeli military is carrying out an illegal attack against civilians with impunity.

This comes after the Israel Foreign Ministry put out a statement on X accusing the flotilla of being “organized by Hamas” and “intend[ing] to serve Hamas,” a statement clearly made as a justification for an illegal attack on the flotilla. The Israeli government is cooking up lies to justify murdering more civilians.

Today, September 24th, Italy’s Defense Minister Guido Crosetto ordered a navy ship to aid the flotilla, in what has become the first time the flotilla has gained material support from a European state. The same day, the EU put out a statement urging immediate maritime protection for the flotilla from all EU member states.

Israel has overplayed its hand. For the first time, at least one member of the EU is intervening on behalf of a pro-Palestinian aid mission. We must call on our governments to intervene in Gaza now.
