Rise Up for Gaza (Protest 10/4/25)

Two Years of Genocide

Reflecting on last Saturday’s rally for Gaza, it’s hard to believe that it’s been two years since the genocide in Gaza began.

Of course, the colonization of Palestine has a century long history. But there is a century long history of resistance in Palestine too. From the Arab Revolt of 1936-1939 to the Great March of Return in 2018-2019, Palestinians have been resisting the Zionist occupation of their land ever since the British Mandate for Palestine and the Balfour Declaration.

As someone new to the Palestine movement – I have only been organizing since this most recent genocide started – I have no right to be impatient or burned out.

In the wake of the occupation’s ground invasion of Gaza, the ethnic cleansing of Gaza City, and the attacks and brutalization of crewmembers of the Global Sumud Flotilla, needless to say, for those that came out for the Palestinian Youth Movement’s International Day of Action on October 4th, we had a lot to be in the streets for.

Watch the video below by the Palestinian Youth Movement on why we were in the streets that day.

The struggle is far from over, but we have the power to fight for what’s right. Check out the DC Protest Calendar on this website here:
