ICE is out of control. In the past year, it has been responsible for destroying and taking countless lives.
Among those killed by ICE recently includes Silverio Villegas González and Keith Porter Jr. Just in the month of January, ICE murdered two American citizens in Minnesota – Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Both of their murders were caught on video.
Last year, ICE went after several pro-Palestine student protestors who happened to be in the US on a visa or green card, including Colombia University student Mahmoud Khalil who is facing deportation to Algeria.
More recently, ICE has been deployed to Minneapolis over exaggerated claims of childcare fraud by Somali Americans made by right-wing content creators. Trump has had an odd obsession with Somalis for a while now, perhaps fueled by his scathing hatred of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, whom he has referred to as “garbage.” He said in a rant last December “She’s garbage. Her friends [Somalis] are garbage. These aren’t people who work. These aren’t people who say, ‘Let’s go, come on, let’s make this place great.’”
We cannot stand idly by while human beings are being hunted down in the street and murdered by federal officers. I implore you to join the national shutdown against ICE terror this Friday, January 30th. There will also be nationwide protests on the same day.
