With Washington DC still experiencing the federal takeover, young activists and artists have come together to create a mixtape of protest songs against the government’s attacks on DC.
Freedom Futures Collective is hosting a release party for their new Free DC mixtape this Saturday, March 7th.
Freedom Futures Collective is a creative arts incubator focusing on the intersection between art and activism. They are helping young “artivists” between the ages of 18-30 to develop skills in cultural organizing, entrepreneurship, and in individual artistic practices. Their goal by 2030 is to create a regional coalition of hundreds of artivists focused on “collective liberation through culture, organizing, and economic transformation.”
The event will feature live performances and DJs, with artists debuting tracks from the Free DC mixtape on stage.
