Duran Aziz is a Washington DC-based activist and writer. He is an American citizen born in the United States, and his parents from Afghanistan. As a man between worlds, he is able to see things from both an American and an Afghan point of view. Duran started this blog because he is looking to build a network of activists in the Washington DC area.
He has experience in campus and city politics, as well as is involved with multiple progressive organizations which advocate for social justice and peace. He is on the exec board for Chapman University’s Students for Justice in Palestine branch. In late April 2024, he and the other SJP board members organized an encampment in solidarity with the people of Gaza enduring genocide. Now back in the Washington DC-Metro area, he organizes with local groups.
Duran hopes to reach out and connect with other DC area organizers. He believes that building coalitions is the only way we as individuals can push for the change that we need.
