People Between Worlds is a blog run by Duran Aziz about Palestine, social justice, nationalized healthcare, and most importantly, for connecting DC area activists together.
With both of his parents born in Afghanistan and himself born in the United States, Duran is a man between worlds. This gives him the unique quality of being able to see current events through the lens of both an Afghan and an American.
Duran believes that every human being has the right to basic human needs, including food, water, shelter, education, and healthcare. The only way to secure these basic needs for all people is by struggling alongside friends and fellow activists to fight for them.
As peace, justice, and diplomacy may seem to stray further from reach, it is our responsibility to do everything in our power to build a better future. Duran does not claim to have all the answers, but he intends to continue connecting with young grassroots organizers on the streets of Washington DC. He wants to rally behind the many students, activists, and young people fighting for social justice, human decency, and environmental survival.
He has envisioned this website as a hub for both his own experiences in protests and activist spaces as well as a way to connect local activists together. The more we talk to one another and the bigger our coalition, the more likely we are to effect lasting change.
