Zohran Mamdani and the Future of America
Why has Zohran Mamdani been attacked by not only the right wing but also by his own party? Because he stands for change. Because he stands for something different.
Both political parties want things to stay the same, since when the status quo is unchanged, both get to maintain their power.
But Mamdani won’t allow for the exploitation of New York City’s most vulnerable citizens.
What he stands for is equity. He demands a rent freeze because unfortunately many New Yorkers will soon be evicted without one. He demands that all buses in the city be free of charge because there are so many who depend on those buses that simply can’t pay.
Most importantly however, Zohran Mamdani is a positive guy. In a political era where the Democrats don’t have a platform besides just complaining about Donald Trump and the Republicans seem to only care about making our lives worse, Mamdani sees hope for a better future.
In one ad his campaign put out, Mamdani is seen riding the Staten Island Ferry. He talks about the history of the ferry, speaking about how first it was paid, but as of 1997, the city made it free. And he asks his audience a very simple question: if this ferry can be free, why can’t transportation in all of New York City be free?
Zohran Mamdani and people of his ilk are the future of America. You don’t have to agree with everything he says, but we need more candidates that are forward thinking and have the positive energy needed to bring lasting change.
